The Importance of Drinking Water

How much water should I drink in a day?
You should drink half of your body weight in ounces of water every day.

How do I incorporate this much water into my daily intake without too much difficulty?
Initially continue with your current intake of water for 2 days, (say 1 or 2 eight-ounce glasses per day).  Then increase gradually to 3 eight-ounce glasses per day for two days, then 4 glasses for two days, then 5 glasses per day etc., until you have reached your desired goal.

How do you know when you are dehydrated?
When you are dehydrated your urine will be a dark yellow and have a distinct odor.  If you are drinking enough water your urine will be a pale yellow with little odor.

How do you become dehydrated?
By breathing you lose a pint or more of water a day.  In one hour of exercise you can lose 1 quart of water through sweat.  You can lose 1.5 quarts of water through urination.

What are some of the benefits of being hydrated?
Human blood is 95% water.  Much of the time the kidneys work to filter and dispose of water.  Staying hydrated will keep your kidneys operating at peak efficiency.  Drinking water can help address the problem of water retention.  When the body is in fluid balance, excess water can be eliminated.  Water will also help flush out the bacteria that causes urinary tract infections.

Do caffeine products, and alcohol count toward my water quota?
NO - Caffeine and alcohol dehydrate you.

What is distilled Water?
Distilled water is water that has been boiled into vapor and then condensed back down into pure water.  The impurities are left behind.

Why should I drink distilled water?
It is odorless, colorless, and tasteless.  It is free of all inorganic minerals including salt.  It is the only pure water left on our polluted planet.  It is so pure that all liquid drug prescriptions are formulated with it.  It is universally accepted as the standard for biomedical applications and for drinking water purity.
